chosera 5k or shapton 6k

I am looking for a general opinion in regards to Chosera 5K v Shapton Glass 6K. I know both are good but which would you advise to get?
My current progression is
Chosera 400, 1K, 3K .... Katayama 8K, Shapton 16K, Balsa strops, leather.
As you can see I really can use a stone in 5K range. I love my choseras I find that 16K shapton sometimes dulls the edge.
Chosera would be about $130 Shapton would be about $80 so I can get a base for $30 and still save
proxy.php

Man is a tough one.
Thanks for you input.

Te 5k C follows the 3k C well. Very well indeed.
I don't know the Kitayama personally, and not all 8ks are created equal - but, in general, the jump from 3k to 8k is do-able.
I prefer to use a 5k in there though. The particle size difference between the 3k and the 5k is roughly a 40% drop, which seems to work very well, that progression seems to be both effective and efficient. Cost is another factor and need is a funny word.
Many have argued that the 5k isn't necessary in a progression like you describe.
To me, what's necessary is up to the user. I've gone without a 5k for a while, but after some time going 3k to 8k - I returned to using a Nubatama 6k and I will continue to do so.

About the Shapton, I don't know that stone either. I could research the particle size but I'd guess its very nearly the same as the 5k C. But the particle size here is only part of the story, particle density and binder type also factor in. Mixing stones can be tricky if you're critical about the performance of each stone.

Cant go wrong with the Chosera here though. After that, you might want to try a Jyunpaku.
