Chipped brush handle

I have a faux ivory handle silvertip brush with no identifying maker markings.
Unfortunately, It fell approximately 6 feet onto a tile floor breaking a jagged piece off the edge of the base.

The brush still works fine but is uncomfortable if you pick it up and hold it with your fingers touching the small jagged place where it is chipped off. It isn't cutting sharp just uncomfortable.

I would like to smooth it off by grinding with a dremel tool or something but I don't want to heat it up enough to melt it.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I've done the same with my faux ivory brush, the dremel might be a bit excessive I just used a medium half round file to roughly smooth it off and then finish with emery cloth. I liked the matt finish too so I gave the whole handle a rub with a nylon scouring pad to knock off the polished finish.
