Chicago Screw size???

I’m replacing the stroping surface of my SRD strop with a hand cut and conditioned leather that is long enough for my long reach (I'm thinking 23 inches).

I’m stumped on what size punch to buy. The holes seem 1/4”, but does anyone know from experience? I’d hate to trial and error via mail order!

Look for a discount tool store in your area, assuming you are stateside. I bought a set of 7 for around 7 bucks, and they will be perfectly fine for use in leather. Then you will have options on size. MHO.

Ah- not even! $6.50 shipped on fleabay. Nevermind- useless thread!!
I was going to suggest one of these plier type tools from Harbor Freight:

Any size hole you want. I have an older one that's similar but probably just as Chinese.

I have one of those. Works fine, but I much prefer a hammer and punch. Arthritis is a cruel mistress, and squeezing that thing to punch heavy weight leather makes me want to find something else to do, lol.

one quarter inch punch.

The wheels are ok on thin leather but eventually you'll have a thick piece and you'll end up buying a punch anyway
