Cherry Angiomas

Do you guys think there is any correlation between shaving with a DE razor and cherry angiomas? I have one that I only got once I switched from my cartridge razor and it looks like I have a second coming in..I used to cut myself occasionally with the cartridge when I was first learning but they never resulted in anything like this..

or is it just natural and some people get cherry angiomas?

hate these things..annoying presence

Hi Sinik,

Cherry angiomas (also called Campbell de Morgan spots) has no known cause and luckily is not cause for concern (not related at all to cancer or in general to any other disease). They seem to appear spontaneously usually in middle age and increase in number with age. Thus the only issue here is aesthetics. I have never read nor even been told of any association with trauma of any kind and cherry angiomas. In fact the only association is with a few chemical agents such as cyclosporin (immunosuppressant) and another chemical which I sadly cannot remember well the name (butoxythanol or something like that) commonly found in cleaning solutions. Even those with constant exposure do not get cherry angiomas thus do not suddenly throw out all of your cleaning solutions :)

Easily removed usually through either cryosurgery, electrosurgery or pulse laser. Thus aesthetically displeasing they have no real medical concern and as I have said no association with trauma including shaving.

Cheers,

D
