What's new

Cheers, guys.

I think I've caught the cooking bug. I think I actually enjoy it now. And I blame you all. I got back from the library at 8 today, and instead of throwing some breaded chicken into the oven I marched myself down to the store, procured a lovely lamb shoulder (half price - bargain.) and roasted it. I made a wild mushroom and cream sauce and served it over pasta. This is not something I would have done 6 months ago. 6 Months ago my culinary skills extended about as far as making a bacon sandwich, or nuking something in the microwave. Since perusing this subforum I have learnt so much - How to cook a chicken, how to roast joints, how to braise things (In beer! What could be better?), how to make my own chili, how to not overcook fish, and so so much more.

Most importantly though, I've learnt to experiment - so thanks for that. I now rarely (if ever) eat prepared or even prepackaged food. That breaded chicken will probably be in my freezer til I graduate!

I actually look forward to cooking things now and don't mind investing an hour or two a day to have a nice fresh meal at the end of it.

To all you that post interesting recipes, thanks and please keep on doing so!
