Check out my rotation

Another member, Mike, gave me the idea of using a rubber stamp holder as a stand for multiple brushes and razors. I got the stand from QVC and loaded it up. It works quite well. I'm attaching a pic. This is my first time attaching a pic. I hope this works so you can see. The only thing I'm concerned about is the metal tongs.

Great idea.

I might wrap the metal clips with some kind of cloth tape or perhaps dip them in that rubber coating stuff to protect the brush handles.

love it. what is the DE lineup?

Merkur Vision
Merkur Mergress
non adjustable all stainless DE

My brushes include
Savile Row 3722 Silvertip
Simpson Tulip 3 Silvertiip
Semogue 1438 Boar
Omega 31064 Boar
Vulfix 404 Grosvenor Boar/Badger Brush

After noting that one of my brushes had a small scratch from using the stand after a few days, I looked into some ways to wrap the tongs. Here's what I did:

Purchased some 1/2" x 3/8" (O.D. x I.D.) clear vinyl tubing from my local big box hardware store in the plumbing section.

For each tong that I wanted to cover, I slid the tubing over the tong and cut if off with a pair of scissors. Here are a couple of pictures of showing how it fits on the stand and how it looks with a brush installed:

As you can see, the tubing causes the tongs to splay a bit wider than they would with just a brush handle alone. I squeezed the ends of the tongs for each brush to bend them back in a little just to be sure that the brushes wouldn't be falling out.

If I had it to do over again, I might have used a smaller I.D. tubing so that it would lay flatter against the tongs. It's also fairly obvious that a thinner wall tubing would allow it to conform to the shape of the tongs more easily.

Overall, I'm happy with the result (although it may not please the aesthetic sensibilities of some...) and my investment was relatively small (About $4 for a 10 foot roll - allowance for plenty of mistakes - you can buy this stuff by the foot and probably not spend over a buck.).

Here's the whole family:

You could try getting some shrink-wrap tubing, cut it to size, install it on the rack, then use a heat gun/hairdryer to shrink it. It might look pretty cool!

Great idea & post!

+1

That's was what I was thinking of suggesting.

Great idea by the way, and I smack myself for not thinking of it.
