CHEAP soap storage.

My shaving mug is currently occupied with a soap puck so I needed a storage solution for a couple of pliable soaps I had but everything I was finding was much too big. I wanted something small that I could cover/seal and put away so I wouldn't have 3 open mugs sitting around and cluttering up the bathroom. I was at the Dollar Tree and found my solution in the baby section. They were selling a set of 5 snack cups with lids for, of course, a dollar! These things turned out to be just what I was looking for! To get an idea of their size, they are just slightly larger than the single serving fruit cups you'd get at the grocery store. I checked their capacity using water and they held about 1/2 a cup. I smushed a stick of Arko in one and would probably have enough room for a 2nd stick. I also had a slab of Cella from a board member and smushed that into the bottom of another cup. They stack nicely and don't take up much room. At 20¢ each and a variety of colors, you can't go wrong.

Not to hijack the thread but I am always on the lookout for a container, jar or tin that could be re-purposed for soap storage. Raid SWMBO's make up for lotion/cream jars, the fridge for Jam jars, pantry for mint tins... I look for the ones where the label canbe completely peeled off the container. I've collected quite a few over the lase couple of months (SWMBO thinks I'm going to be on hoarders soon), next step is to get some waterproof labels and print out some professional looking labels for the containers.

I considered zip lock bags but I wanted something that would be more user friendly that I could load the brush directly from the container, let it dry and then close it up.

i have small glad containers from Wal-Mart. They're cheap and just about the perfect size for most soap pucks, plus they have a good fitting lid.

I got tipped off as to some great round 250ml food containers from the Reject Shop, they're reasonably thick food-grade plastic with screw on lids. They were $1.25 each, not quite as good as 20c but still a pretty good price. They look reasonable enough to sit on the bench too.

I'm using an old ceramic blue sugar bowl w/ its lid. Its' been years since someone used it since the only sugar I have at home is Splenda.

The 1 cup Pyrex dishes are about $10 for (4) at WalMart. Not a bad price for something of very high quality.

I've seen those and they are very nice containers. I was looking for something smaller and plastic so I wouldn't have to worry about dropping and breaking them.

I found something similar to the OP in the dollar section at a local grocery store. $1 for 5 containers. They're a good size for lathering; slightly smaller than the Mama Bears tubs in diameter, but deeper. Snap on lids like Gladware.

I buy my hookah tobacco in tins that hold 250g. The empty tins are the perfect size and have a tight friction-fit lid.
