Charity Dinner

For the last three years, Susan and I have been selling a gourmet dinner for four guests, at our home, on a United Way Auction.

The dinner was last night and it turned out great! Unfortunately my camera work was not too good -- I got busy and missed a bunch of pictures, but this will give you an idea.

Here is a picture of the table setting with the personalized menu.

The guests brought the wine and we finished with four different bottles of Single Malt. I sure hated to hear the alarm this morning!!

Very inventive form of raising funds. Are you and/or your wife professionals in the food service industry? If not how did you come up with this idea and how do you go about touting this event? Do you sell the dinners via auction or to a specific group of people?

The menu sounds very tasty! That meringue is awesome.

Thanks for the kind comments.

The auction is a large United Way event in our area. It is handled a like a mini E-bay, with reserve bidding, etc. This is centered around my Company and it gets a lot of publicity within the company, but outsiders can connect through the United Way and bid too.

We are not professionals - we are just foodies and decided that selling the dinner for four would be fun.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you do this for a living.

It would be amazing if you guessed. I am a Chemical Engineer by training and work with capital projects. The closest I am to the food industry is enjoying the products.
