Cella vs VDH Deluxe.

Hey guys,

I got some Cella sample from Garry's Sample shop, and was wondering how it compares to my current VDH Deluxe.
For those of you who have tried both, which did you like better?

Just curious.

Thanks!

If I'm shaving Cella has a slight edge on VDH. Wonderful scent, slick, protective etc. If I'm standing at the cash register VDH has the edge. I like and use them both. VDH Deluxe is a good, readily available product that responds well to a little extra shot of glycerin in the lather bowl. Cella doesn't need any help. This morning it was Cella; day after tomorrow it will be Deluxe. I don't dread any of the soaps in my rotation.

I'd say Cella over the VDH Deluxe line for sure. I can get a pretty close to comparative result with VDH Luxury, but even then, Cella wins for ease of lathering, and the lather will still have a slight cut above in slickness and cushion.

I have, use and appreciate both. Cella would get the nod for lather quality IMO. VDH remains a high quality and value soap ($2) and I will always keep it in rotation. I recommend VDH for new shavers. Cella is another experience and should be tried by all.

+1 on the car comparison! And I think that if you invest in the block of Cella it's cheaper per shave than VDH, or at least costs no more.

I got moves like Jagger
There's nothing wrong with VDH (Deluxe or otherwise) but it doesn't compare at all to Cella. (YMMV)

Oh my, you're in for a spiritual awakening. Surrey was my first soap and I have used a few pucks of VDH Deluxe, too. There is no comparison. I suppose there is an outside chance the Cella won't agree with your skin, but Cella is top of the line stuff! Curious to hear what you discover!

I actually did this math yesterday, comparing the 1 kilo brick of cella to an equal by weight amount of VDH Deluxe bought in bulk off amazon for the discount... Cella comes out about $10 higher (due to shipping, really), and that is only if you don't have Amazon Prime to get the free shipping on the VDH. With Amazon prime the difference is closer to $20.

Now, $20 sounds like a lot, but keep in mind that you are getting over 2 pounds of soap, and the total order was still under $40, shipped from Ireland. It works out to about $1.10 an ounce, which is a lot cheaper than the majority of soaps many of us think nothing about buying.

Which lasts longer? The Cella certainly provides a better lather.

I have found you can use alot less Cella than VDH. You do not have to work the soap as much with your brush. I find with Cella , I use alot less soap and still a much better lather , therefore Cella should last alot longer..

That would have been my guess, but I have only used the Cella a handful of times. I'll get a better idea of its longevity when it gets the 3017 treatment.
