Castle Forbes Colognes

Anyone try Castle Forbes Colognes? If the quality of their colognes is anywhere near the quality of their creams, its got to be good. I have a sample of Keig that I received from Colonial Drugs and its nice a refreshing. Its described as an "invigorating and zesty blend of lemon, lime and bergamot oils on a heart of sandalwood and cedarwood".

And while I think the Keig is really nice, I'm very interested in their Gentlemen's Cologne because it includes lavender. Gentlemens is described as "evokes the bracing stimulation of the Highland air. A citrus complex introduces oakmoss, lavender and a green heart of ferns on a base of precious woods".

Thoughts?

If their colognes were "diamonds on the rough" so to speak, I would think that by now they would get a bit more more press on Basenotes. Who knows, maybe too few people know about the brand...

I had samples of their colognes a few years ago. I think I liked 1445 but did not like others. I wish I could remember the ones I did not like.

I've sampled all of them, except for their limited edition lime, which came out after I'd received the sample pack. I was already familiar with their shaving products, and, like Cuttingboard, I too figured the colognes must be something special, as well. My opinion changed once I smelled them. While I could tell they are high quality and carefully crafted, I was not enthralled with any of them. I flat out disliked most of them, although there was one I halfway thought about getting, before realizing I was just talking myself into it, and probably would never wear it. I don't remember which one that was. Someone I know once described the CF fragrances as trying to be both traditional and modern at the same time, and that description pretty much sums up my take on them as well. As is evidenced by some of the posts in this thread, though, some people really like them. They're worth checking out, at least.

I think that 1445 is pleasant, but I don't think that I'd spring for a bottle of it. I liked Lonach the first time I smelled it, but I don't think that I could live with that pineapple note. Given the excellence of their cream, I'm surprised that they don't have more interesting fragrances.

I agree with this review. I purchased Forbes of Forbes because I thought it was the best of the bunch, but I don't wear it. It is not really intriguing at all. The Gentleman's Cologne is all right. The lime was good when I sampled it, but over all they are very expensive and not terribly intriguing.
