Casswell-Massey Soaps?

Just picked up some caswell-massey soap locally. The almond smells great!! Just wondering if any of you have experience with it? Does it lather well? I have to wait a bit to try it, but hoping some of you have used it before and can let me know how it was.

They don't have a good reputation here. Poor lathering performance is the main knock. But as always YMMV!

I heard they reformulated. Maybe it improved, it certainly couldn't get any worse. Let us know how it goes if you can't return it.

I hate to say it, but this is probably the most realistic answer.

Don't buy their pre shave oil either.
I have some that I bought about 6 years ago.
It reeks all day, messes up your brush and does nothing to make you shave smoother.
I sometimes used it to protect my carbon steel straight razors, but I found it was still too stinky even for that.

Their shave soap is lousy. I love their other products, but this stuff is bad. No lather and dries on the face faster than you can brush it on. Send it back!

I tried it and couldn't get a good lather with it for the life of me. I thought it was just me...glad to hear otherwise It was ver dry and produced no lather. The VDH from walmart worked a lot better than this stuff. Its too bad, I really liked the smell of it. Thanks for you help and boost of confidence in my lathering technique (i'm still new to wet shaving)

Makes a great shower soap. But if it's unused, return it. I payed $12US for the almond with wooden bowl. I could have gotten some Tabac for that!!! Or and Omega boar..... Or.......

Take it back.

We all made this mistake once. The good news is: most quality soap refills will into the wooden bowl.

Their triple milled bar soaps in various fragrances are great. I also like a few of their colognes. My favorites are; Number Six (claimed to be George Washington's favorite), Lime, Verbena, Greenbriar, Mitchelson Bay Rum, Sandalwood.

I picked up a bowl of this when I first started out as I thought the sent was great. Used it once or twice but don't think I've used it since that first week. Maybe I'll try again soon.

I saw a booth the company had at a trade show I went to last year. I started talking to the exibitors there (was looking for some good shave geek talk) but after one of them tried to convince me for 10 minutes that the pure badger was better than the other grades of badger they had because it was pure, I decided to move on to other booths.
