Can anyone tell me about the CASE razor brand? Apparently they're made in PA, and that's all I know at this point. I snagged one at an antique shop for roughly $30 and while it needs some restoration, it seems to be a decent blade. Any information on this?
http://www.wrcase.com/index_en.php pretty well known knife maker - I don't know much about their straights though, sorry. It looks like they made straights for a lot of the domestic barber supply and hardware store brands though.
I really like Case razors. Most that I have had are either Red Imp's (though Ludo and Morris also made Red Imps) or Temperites (though I have also seen Temperites that say "English Steel" and do not say Case on them). There are other Case razors out there as well.
Agreed. But, other than the Red Imp, Case razors seem to fall into the collectors catagory and seem often overpriced when contrasted with other US razors. I guess Case knife collectors expand into the razor area.
Why the Red Imps don't seem to attract collectors is a mystery to me. But the Case Imp 132 wedge I own is an excellent shaver.
I guess it's luck of the draw. I can rememeber times when Red Imps would fetch at least $70 in great shape, but I've also seen my fair share of Imps, Temperites, and other models quite cheap. On ebay it's often a matter of pics, seller's rep, and the title of the auction.
This is good information. The one I snagged at the antique shop will need some restoration work, but nothing too bad, so it seems like I got a deal for $29 plus tax.
