I think it depends on the quality of a given cart, the care you give it (rinse and dry) and how much hair you shave (density and thickness). I went probably 5 yrs using (5 atra carts (what came w the original razor kit) and also a Trac 2 . I was able to steal these 2 from my dad, they were new and never used and he used just electrics. I shaved w these 2 for 5-6yrs BUT as a kid I had less hair and thickness was a joke. I did NOT care for these carts, used hand soap mostly till I discovered a brush and olds-ice mug.
FFW 35yrs and shaving the head I was happy to get 14 shaves w a Gillette Skin Guard, all others I get maybe 5-7 decent shaves.
Maybe one of these days I will use a new cart for the face an see how far it goes...., I now prefer DE , SE for face and head.
