Captain's Choice copper Traveler bowl

What's wrong with this picture?

Nothing, actually. It is just the relentless march of progress at Captain's Choice. Copper bowls L to R, original, heavyweight, now the Traveler.

Loved the original, but the heavyweight upped the heat retention and has heft I appreciate. But I don't usually need that much lather.

Enter the Traveler. Same gauge metal as the heavyweight, but right-sized for your luggage and for those of us who like a thin coating.

Less lather gives me better edging of those all-important sideburns and my stints with goatees, circle beards, winter ski beards.

Just what I wanted! And I still have the large bowls for a lather-palooza when the mood strikes.

Or if I sneak in a full shave when the LOTH takes a leave of absence and isn't around to object.

Or when I am hyper-lathering a new boar brush.

I have been using the Traveler every shave. Usually it luxuriates in a hot water bath (in my heavyweight copper bowl) whenever it is not in my hand. Warm lather, warm brush.

Speak of the devil...

a Cayuen appeared.

It is scaled for my largest brushes. I am informed that this is the smallest size of Cayuen. Feed it enough soap and the thick yogurt lather rises above the deep ridges that cover the interior.

1) makes lather fast
2) uses up a lot of soap
3) makes lather thick

I like thin, wet lathers and face lathering is prep. Painting is not prep. And I'm impatient when it comes to waiting a couple of minutes for stubble hydration with a lather beard in place. I like to keep active.

I could rant for a while, but I'll skip that and head right back to my Traveler.
