Today’s craptastic shave:

Pre-shave: Liquid Neutrogena
Brush: RR 400 matte Plissoft
Soap: Fendrihan unscented
Razor: Baili 179 TTO
Blade: Gillette Perma-Sharp (1)
Number of passes: 2 (cheeks WTG and XTG; neck XTG and XTG)
Touchups or buffs: A few
Aftershave: Skin Bracer and Nivea Sensitive balm
Sting: None
Result: DFS
Final thoughts: Very satisfying

I committed a cardinal sin by changing three things at once! I changed the soap, blade, and razor. No worries, though, as it was a fantastic shave and one that I hope to repeat tomorrow. I think moving forward I’ll use the Baili and real soaps on the weekends to treat myself while sticking with more aggressive razors and canned foam during the work week for speed, at least until I can master the soap thing. I can usually rip off a streak of 3-5 shaves in a row with soap before succumbing to irritation, which pushes me back to foam. The two-day weekends seem like a good limiter to help master the soapy goodness.

Sunday's Crapalocious shave....

Wonderful 3 pass WTG, XTG and ATG with touch up. Also a great week with the Crown Super Stainless. Have a great Sunday!

I’m easy like Crapunday morning:

Soap: Fendrihan unscented

Number of passes: 2 (cheeks WTG and XTG; neck XTG and XTG)
Touchups or buffs: A few

Pretty much the same shave as yesterday and equally pleasing. Maybe a little more tingle from the Skin Bracer.

Today's craptastic shave:

Pre-shave: Liquid Neutrogena
Brush: RR 400 matte Plissoft
Cream: Gillette Foamy red
Razor: RR Lupo 72
Blade: Dorco Titan (1)
Number of passes: 2 (cheeks WTG and XTG; neck XTG and XTG)
Touchups or buffs: A few
Aftershave: Skin Bracer and Nivea Sensitive balm
Sting: None, maybe a tingle
Result: DFS
Final thoughts: Good enough for a Monday morning

Going back to canned foam showed me how much slicker soap is. No denying that. However, for some reason I can't explain, canned foam seems to protect me better.

The Dorco Titan is a nice blade. It might be the smoothest in the Dorco family.

Monday's wonderful Crappy assault...

Razor- Baili BD191 Adjustable
Blade- Gillette Silver Blue Russia (1)
Brush- Yaqi Sagrada Familia 22mm Synthetic
Lather- Stirling Margaritas In The Artic (Menthol Monday)
Post- Thayers Unscented With Aloe
Stetson Cooling Moisture AS

Wonderful day off 3 pass WTG, XTG and ATG with touch up shave. First time using the Silver Blue. Little rough from the start but I know it will smooth out during the week. Have a great day and week.

Crap control to Major Tom:

Pre-shave: Liquid Neutrogena
Brush: RR 400 matte Plissoft
Cream: Barbasol Sensitive orange
Razor: RR Lupo 72
Blade: Dorco Titan (2)
Number of passes: 2 (cheeks WTG and XTG; neck XTG and XTG)
Touchups or buffs: A few
Aftershave: Skin Bracer and Nivea Sensitive balm
Sting: None
Result: DFS+
Final thoughts: Brilliant

Absolutely top shelf shave this morning. The universe aligned and everything came together. A funny thing happened over the summer. I've been using Barbasol quite frequently, which I previously believed to be slightly inferior to Gillette Foamy, even when hydrating it. Well, after adding ample water, I now think I might prefer it to the Foamy. It has a little more body and, when properly hydrated, it has a little better residual slickness.

Tuesday Crapocolypse???.....

Razor- Yaqi Final Cut Adjustable
Blade- Gillette Silver Blue Russian (2)
Brush- Yaqi Sagrada Familia 22mm Synthetic
Lather- PAA The Battle
Post- Thayers Unscented With Aloe
Stirling Duke AS

A great 3 pass WTG, XTG and ATG shave with touch up. I am really liking a smaller knot and Handle when I choose to face lather. Have a great day.

Today's shave from the heart of Crapland:

Pre-shave: Liquid Neutrogena
Brush: RR 400 matte Plissoft
Cream: Barbasol Sensitive orange
Razor: RR Lupo 72
Blade: Dorco Titan (3)
Number of passes: 2 (cheeks WTG and XTG; neck XTG and XTG)
Touchups or buffs: A few
Aftershave: Skin Bracer and Nivea Sensitive balm
Sting: None
Result: DFS+
Final thoughts: Almost as good as yesterday

All in all, a pretty good shave today. However, the drop in sharpness of the Titan from the second to third shave was quite noticeable. I'm not going to push this blade to a fourth shave.

Today's shave from the decks of the USS Craptown:

Pre-shave: Liquid Neutrogena
Brush: RR 400 matte Plissoft
Cream: Barbasol Sensitive orange
Razor: RR Lupo 72
Blade: Bolzano made in Egypt (1)
Number of passes: 2 (cheeks WTG and XTG; neck XTG and XTG)
Touchups or buffs: A few
Aftershave: Skin Bracer and Nivea Sensitive balm
Sting: Very minor
Result: DFS+
Final thoughts: Promising

This was my first use ever with a Bolzano blade. The shave was quite nice. Out of the wrapper, the Bolzano was sharper than the Dorco Titan but not quite as smooth. Even though Abraham Lincoln warned us about not believing everything we read on the internet, there are plenty of reports that Lord allegedly makes the Egyptian Bolzanos. The wrapper screams of Lord, and I'm not sure how many blade factories @Eric_75 owns in Egypt. The Bolzano lists titanium as a coating, which none of the Lord house brands carry, so it might be a very different blade from their standard catalog. However, during the shave, the blade felt pretty much identical to a Lord Super Chrome: sharp, crisp, above average smoothness, and good cutting prowess. The post-shave feel was also pretty identical: slightest bit of sting and echoing evidence of steel being dragged across my face, which the Dorco Titan does not produce. In the end, the Bolzano might be a very different blade from the Lord Super Chrome, or all Lords for that matter, but on my face it basically shaves the same so I'll use up this tuck but I don't need to spend $0.40 per blade for more.

Blade- Gillette Silver Blue Russian (5)
Brush- Parker BCSY 24mm Synthetic
Lather- Sir Hare Classic Barber Soap

Pinaud Clubman (Clubman Friday)

A splendid 3 pass WTG, XTG and ATG with touch up. Just got back last night from the last camping trip of 2024. Kids start school in Monday. Had 3 days of growth to plow through and the Yaqi and Silver Blue came out victorious. Have a great day!

Today's crapola shave:

Pre-shave: Liquid Neutrogena
Brush: RR 400 matte Plissoft
Cream: Barbasol Sensitive orange
Razor: RR Lupo 72
Blade: Bolzano made in Egypt (2)
Number of passes: 2 (cheeks WTG and XTG; neck XTG and XTG)
Touchups or buffs: A few
Aftershave: Skin Bracer and Nivea Sensitive balm
Sting: Very minor
Result: DFS+
Final thoughts: Confirming

Today's shave was pretty much a repeat of yesterday's, and that's a good thing. Nice shave. Close. Comfortable. A hint of aftershave feedback in places, and that only further confirms it for me in my walnut-sized brain that the Bolzano is very similar to the Lord Super Chrome. I'd probably fail a blind test between the two.

I’m going to use this same razor combo today. You’ve motivated me to get it out of my razor box. Also, your continued loyalty to this cult club has earned you the promotion of Vice President of CRAP.

Today’s crapalicious whisker removal:

Pre-shave: Liquid Neutrogena
Brush: RR 400 matte Plissoft
Cream: Barbasol Sensitive orange
Razor: MR V3M/MR11
Blade: Bolzano made in Egypt (3)
Number of passes: 2 (cheeks WTG and XTG; neck XTG and XTG)
Touchups or buffs: A few
Aftershave: Skin Bracer and Nivea Sensitive balm
Sting: Some
Result: DFS
Final thoughts: Made a few mistakes

I used the MR V3M for the first time in ages. All in all, a decent and mostly drama-free shave. I had some difficulty finding the correct angle along my jawline and didn’t find it until it was too late. I have some minor irritation there. I’ll use the Baili 179 for a Sunday recovery shave.
