What's new

Can't wait to use my new DE

I have all other necessary items but I am waiting on the brush I ordered five days ago. I can't wait to use my DE razor.

Edit: Brush has shipped and will hopefully be here by the weekend so I can try my hand at proper wet shaving!

Did you try contacting them first to see why your brush is taking so long to ship, before coming here to blast them publicly? Also, you do realize vintagescent.com is shipping out of Portugal, right?

The guy who runs Vintage Scent is "Leon" here on B&B, a well-respected vendor, and I'm sure he'd do his best to resolve any shipping issues if you'd give him a chance.

I contacted him Friday and he apologized for the delay and claimed he would ship the brush on the weekend. I got the shipping confirmation today, Monday. It was a 5-day shipping delay, but I'm excited that the brush is on the way!

Welcome to the good ship B&B. Take a stroll on the promenade deck and enjoy the voyage. :thumbup1:

Always remember, relax but be vigilant when you shave!

To me it didn't really read like he was complaining. I think you kind of made an issue where there didn't seem to be one.

Well, maybe, but you're posting after the original post was edited, so you probably didn't see the first version of it. Anyhow, it was edited, so no issue anymore.

OP: Welcome to B&B, and many great shaves to you!

I changed the OP to be less accusatory, but I admit that it was at first. The shipping delay was going on 5 days, which is unacceptable to me. However, I have found Bruno at VintageScent.com to be extremely helpful and prompt in responding to inquiries since I made that post, so all is well.

He claims it takes 7-10 days for an item from Portugal... can anyone attest to this?

Not to pick a fight, but I have yet to find a merchant here that speaks with a forked tongue. They are gentlemen and if I were them, I would resent you're implying that they are less than candid.

I am not implying that he is being dishonest. I hope that my brush gets here in less than 7 days, and I was asking how long it has taken for other to receive their items from the same vendor. It is out of Bruno's hands now, and I am simply curious about when I will finally be able to start DE shaving.

I ordered a brush from Vintage Scent earlier this year. It took over 2 weeks to arrive to me in NJ. In all fairness to the vendor, the product left his hands within 24 hours but languished in the Portuguese postal system for quite awhile. You should have received tracking information a short time after the purchase which will allow you to track the shipment.

I can understand your angst but international shipping is, to be kind, a work in progress. I can tell you that my Semoque brush was worth the wait. I know that if I didn't have other brushes and it was me who was waiting to use such a nice razor, I would probably pick up a VDH brush from CVS and get to work.

Hang in there!

I will be tracking the shipment, but I am beginning to think that ordering my first brush from overseas was a mistake. .

Isn't Target supposed to have fairly nice brushes for ~$10? How does a VDH from CVS compare?

FWIW, most of us have more than one brush. I have a small one for travel, my Semoque and a VDH brush. All of them have a place in my rotation. The VDH brush is, I believe, less than $10 and is a very serviceable brush-perhaps a little stiff-but it has been very serviceable. The Semoque is by far my favorite.

I find the nice thing about rotating my brushes is that it gives yesterday's brush a chance to really dry.

Five days and you're complaining? Have you ever ordered online before? Just be patient, things can take a while.

The trick is to keep ordering things so that you maintain a steady stream into your mailbox :thumbup1:
