Can't seem to get good lather anymore

A little bit of background, I have been wet shaving for about two months now and pretty much sticking with Gentlemen's best signature series soap. I have been getting enough lather for 4+ passes of thick, slick, beautiful lather. I have been using the same technique every morning but for the last 1.5 weeks my lather seems to literally disappear from my face before I can finish my first pass. I can't seem to figure out what is happening, I can only get either a really really thick almost dry lather or a lather that disappears and my lather isn't filling the bowl to overflowing like it had been. Can anyone think of a reason for this? Could the brush need cleaning? Did my city chage the water on me? Did I dream the last few weeks of beautiful lather?

Have you been thoroughly rinsing out your brush after each use? If it isn't rinsed out completely it may indeed need cleaning, even after only 2 months.

What kind of brush is it?

Have you tried face lathering as opposed to lathering in a bowl?

Approaching the problem with a clean brush as if you had never done it before and are starting from scratch can sometimes work out the kinks if it is a technique issue, but it doesn't really sound like it is.

The only face lathering I have done is with the mamas bear sample slivers. After I get back from this weekends camping trip I will try cleaning the brush. The brush is an Edwin Jagger best badger brush. Any suggestions on cleaning it? I know the couple of times I tried to use the dr Harris soap I was PIFed I had a hard time cleaning the brush so that may have something to do with it.
