What's new

can you recommend me a razor?

hi there guys - i have used Futur (breifly in the begining), Vision 2000, Fatboy and gillette ss.
Now I want to try something else as sometime I feel its difficult to get under the chin and shave the neck.

Any recommendations from the Truefitt and Hill store?
How about Carlton?

Adjustable vs non adjustable?

Thanks guys...

Can't go wrong with the basics:
Merkur 34C? There's a good reason it's mentioned all the time.
E Jagger DE89L? smoothest contact ever.
T&H is the EJ head these days, I believe.
What did you think of the fatboy? did you twist the dial around?

I'm leaning towards 3 piece razors rather than TTO and/or adjustable these days.
They feel more solid and the shallower head profile does the upper lip and chin angles easier.
both the 34C and the EJ rock with derbies and feathers for me.
YMMV

Take a look at the Merkur 1904. Same head as the HD, but wow is it a better overall razor. The price is good on it too. Any of the shave sites has it.

I gotta second Pete's suggestion: the trusty slant-bar. I cannot imagine a DE enthusiast who hasn't at least given one a try. I was a little intimidated by the "aggressive razor" hype, but found that they cannot be beat for a close and (almost) effortless, shave. True, they do require a bit of adjustment and a little respect, but of all the razors I've tried, I'd call it my benchmark razor.

The Slant is different, available at a modest price, and commands respect compared to many other razors....

Slants are great. Contrary to what some have said, slants are not aggressive, I use a Feather in mine. It is (IMHO) a very different shave.

I'd try a slant or open comb for variety. It seems you have decent razors as is. Don't let them go. You may go back to them and have a different outcome.
