What's new

Can you load a single edge razor with double-edge blades?

There is a brand new SE razor specifically designed to take half DE blades.
It is called the Yaqi Katana... check it out

Most likely the main reason to make a half de se razor is the more compact head which is easier in narrow spots.

Most of the pivot head razors also use half de blades.

There is also an other reason to use half de blades and that is cost price
A de blade is usually less than 20 cents so even a multi blade leaf using 3 half de blades mimics a cart for 30 cents...

But a de blade is less stiff as a true se blade (gem feather fhs ac) which gives a different shave experience. Most consider the true se razors very efficient for heavy beards.

Leafs new twig could be interesting due to the steep angle of the blade.

I might as well add to this old thread that there are SE razors that accommodate DE blades. In the history of safety razors a handful of SE razors such as Capital Golf and Shake Sharp used only DE razor blades. There is no need to modify or tamper these razors they work with DE blades only. I know that isn't what the OP was looking for but I thought I would pass this info anyway.

Just buy a Shake Sharp would indeed be the best advice ever. Loaded with two blades of course.

The Leaf with its three edges is quite good also.
