I recently picked up this Made in England Gem, and finally got around to cleaning it last night. It's in much better condition than the photos show, just a few light scratches on the head but no plating loss at all.
It had a blade still inside it which I was planning to throw away. However, when I took it out I noticed the nice engraving on the blade so I decided to keep it. I cleaned the blade (hot water and dish soap followed by a soak in metholated spirits) and then covered the sharp edge with paper and tape to make it safe.
I know it's a long shot, but can anyone identify this blade? Would be great to know what year range it might be from and also what brand it is if at all possible. There's no other branding info on the blade, it just says "Made in Great Britain" on both sides of the blade.
Also, do you know what plating would have been on this razor? Is it Nickel? Chrome? Doubt it would have been Rhodium.
