Can you help me identify my Dad's safety razor?

Be sure to loosen the doors before turning the adjustment wheel
The original instructions never said to do this, and somehow it has become internet lore that it is required. Captain Murphy, who has restored many of these, also weighed in and said it is not necessary. It won't hurt to loosen the doors, but it is not required.

I have done it both ways, with the Fatboy, Slim, and Superadjustable. I generally don't bother to open the doors. All I'm saying is that it is not required. Many folks in this and other forums think it is required, based on the musings of others on the internet, and say it must be done that way or the razor will be damaged or will wear out quickly.

For you, what makes opening the doors the preferred way?

I really don't think it makes a difference. Urban myth.
