Can I use the slant?

When I shave with my Merkur HD or 1904, at times I'll use the J-hook to get some of the tricky hard to get whiskers. I've put my slant down for awhile until I'm more comfortable using that razor. I wonder if the J-hook can be used with the slant? Has anyone used that technique with the slant? If so is there any special way of using the slant with the J-hook? I really don't want to take the chance of quite a few nicks by doing it wrong. Any advice would be most helpful. Thanks.

You could use that technique, I do on occasion. Depending on how long you tried it you may find it not to be a major necessity
