Can I use shaving soap as regular soap?

I have several shaving soaps that I have tried but don't like. Is there any reason I cannot use them as regular soap rather than throwing them out?

Thanks.

Dan

Many here suggest doing just that, relegating them to the showers.

Go for it!

As others have said, it will work just fine. But you shouldn't use bath soap for shaving, except in dire emergencies.

But if you don't like it as shaving soap, why would you want to use it in the shower? Whatever qualities didn't appeal to you during shaving will be the same when its applied below the neck.

A better solution might be to post them for sale on the BST, once you reach the requisite 50 posts.

One exception being Caswell-Massey soaps! :001_tt2: My one and only puck went right to the bin, I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

I see it as the soap might not lather to the desired slickness. I wouldn't think you would need a slick lather for a body wash.

Just put a puck of Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet soap to use in the shower. Too little lather to shave with but a little more than I care for in the shower. It is a fitting and proper way to use a soap that performs poorly when shaving. You get the full benefit of the expensive scent and better shower performance than most bath soaps. Four or five weeks of luxury for me instead of selling another wet shaver a turkey and giving him the accompanying disappointment.

Patiently awaiting my Sartorial and new formula Blenheim Bouquet.

Yeah I smelled like creme brûlée for 2weeks and loved the scent so much I ordered the body soap... But really I haven't noticed any difference as a body soap... I'm not looking for slickness, cushion, or ease of lather building when scrubbing with my loofa

Most shaving soaps aren't great to bathe with, but they are still soaps and will work. They might not leave your skin as clean or as soft as a bath soap would, but they will do some cleaning.

I use shave soap in the shower every day! If you want more lather than you receive for bathing, spend a buck or two and buy a loofah, you will have plenty of scrubby bubbles in the shower.

Probably not an issue unless the OP is shaving below the neck. What one looks for in a shaving soap and a bathing soap can certainly differ.
