Can I get some recommendations on a brush?

I'm sure that most of you have had a variation of this question asked repeatedly. I'm still very much a newbie (shaving with DE razor for just under 2 weeks). I have a Parker Silvertip, and although it does give a luxurious lather, it feels too "floppy" to me. At the same time, I don't want anything super stiff either, to where lathering is uncomfortable and "prickly." Should I go with a best badger brush? :confused1 I'm looking to spend < 75 dollars. I would like something on the medium-to-large side also. I've seen some people recommend EJ and Simpson.

May I suggest a short loft silvertip? You still get the softness of the silvertip tips, yet more backbone, doing away with the "floppy" feeling. I have one made by Miguel Martinez at Martinez Customs that is fantastic! My review of the brush is here. And Miguel gives a B&B discount as well as incredibly fast service!

Those look good! The website could use some work though :)

Or Rooney 1/1 Super (Silvertip). Same knot as above with a different handle. They have great backbone with soft tips.

Get an Omega 66 Boar Brush. It's about 15 bucks and amazingly soft for a boar bristle brush.
I think it is what you are saying you'd like, soft but with enough backbone to do the job.
If you don't like it (and I'm sure you will) you can easily unload it here at B&B.

Kent Bk4, from Auravita.com, for about $60 delivered to the States. Best deal going. Great with soaps or creams. Exceptional.
