Can I bring a DE Razor on a plane?

Yes you can. I flew last month with my DE in my carry on bag with no blade in it. When I left KC to Dallas I wasn't stopped. In Dallas the razor made them pull the bag aside and search it. They were just concerned if there was a blade in it. Next time I might put it with my wife's checked luggage just to make things a little smoother though.

Honestly I thought they would be looking at my shave soap in a stick form. Didn't bat a lash at it.

As stated above, yes you can. Just dont fly with blades unless they're in checked luggage.
I know a lot of folks mail blades to where they are travelling to, and once they arrive they have what they need. That usually works better if you're visiting family, not sure how a hotel or resort would handle it.

That said... You can stash a couple somewhere and no one will be the wiser. ;)[/QUOTE]

Yep. You just have to be willing to give up the blade if checked.

sure, you could carry a razorblade onto a plane. sounds like a great idea if you want to get cozy with the gloved and lubricated fist of the TSA.

seriously? who thinks this is a good idea.

carry the razor, no problem, but either check the blade, post it ahead, or buy when you get there.

Can't say I agree with this advice. No matter how arbitrary, capricious, or silly the TSA regs are -- and they are -- them's the rules. It's certainly your business as to whether you want to comply with them (and of the other folks impatiently standing behind you in line when your blade is confiscated, I suppose), but B&B shouldn't be used as a platform to advocate for breaking them.

They should because the rule is ridiculous . You cant overtake anything with a DE blade.

That begin said stash 3 blades in 3 different places in your bag. They usually catch 1 blade, but sometimes 2, while other times none. Either way they wont find all 3.

so youre saying that if I hold a blade to your neck youre not going to comply? how does it differ to a small pocket knife or box cutter blade etc.

end of the day, you dont have to like the rules. but B&B wont be the place to discuss breaking them.

id rather be slightly inconvenienced in having to check a bag etc than miss my flight because i'm in some back room getting cozy with Bubba the TSA agent because I had multiple blades stashed in my bag

All blades aside, pack it disassembled and they probably won't even look at it. You already said no blades so that won't be an issue. I would worry about somebody pulling the bag just to check out the razor though. Even the TSA shave, right?

I don't believe B&B rules allow for discussion or advocating of circumvention of regulations. It is what it is...

You beat me to the punch. Assembled, it might cause concern and if you meet the wrong TSA agent, you may lose the DE, even though you don't have a blade in it. There have been (recent) anecdotes on B&B to this effect. Disassembled, though, it doesn't look like a razor and shouldn't be an issue.

I wouldn't "stash" several blades in different places, which looks like you are purposefully hiding them,. That's an invitation to a much more thorough security check. Hell, I wouldn't try to hide even one blade. I might consider putting one, easily found, in relatively plain sight. That way all you probably lose is the blade--and not your flight.

I should note that I wouldn't carry it on, period. If I'm staying overnight, I'm checking a bag. I understand why some don't want to check bags. I just expect that you don't hold up everyone from de-planing while you gather all your bags in overhead compartments. Let the people off who are actually ready to get off.

Yep, the razor but not the blades. I travel every week and I always check my bag. I have four different kind of blades in my Dopp kit on this 15 day trip. Also just visited Merz Apothecary and came away with three different AS. Couldn't bring that on board, either. Just hope the pressure change doesn't make then explode on my way home. Although, then I could find my bag with my eyes closed, neh?

I don't have a dog in this hunt, but I'm kind of surprised that this topic isn't a sticky by now--seems like there's a weekly post about razors and carry on bags.

I travel pretty frequently domestically in Australia - same rules at the TSA.

I rarely have checked luggage, only carry on. My travel kit includes a Sensor Excel cart for the road - DE are too much hassle when travelling IMHO.

I've occasionally taken a DE with me to give to a friend etc. When I do so I put it in the tray with my mobile phone etc. If it is in my bag they will want to see it anyway. Why waste your time and others behind you having to get it out. Put it in plain sight, let them inspect it and point out there is no blade, nothing to see here guys and gals.

Why make things more difficult than they have to be.
