Can anyone tell me about this brush?

Last weekend I was doing a bit of antiquing and the guy threw this brush in with a couple of other things I bought. It appears it says Simms on it. It does not feel like Boar or Badger, maybe synthetic? Any info would be appreciated.

Your brush looks to be boar. Simms was a shaving brush co. out of Canada that started producing brushes in 1866. They only manufacture high end painting brushes now. Nice find, it should restore very nicely!! A 2 band finest would look real sharp in that handle.

If I would choose to do that, where is a good source to have it set with badger and refinished, or should I not have it refinished?
