Can anyone tell me about this blade

Hey! I got this from my relatives and it belonged to my late grand-grandfather. He bought it from America while living there between 1911 - 1917. There are no marks on the blade and the only thing to recognize this with would be the number 8788 inside the handle. Now I´m wondering what is should do with it?

I don’t have any information on the blade at all, but I will say that it looks to be in fairly decent condition. The first thing I would do is get it honed and shave with it.

Both the custom cut box and the razor strike me as something from the Old Country (Europe), rather than American manufacture, but I've been wrong before.

You are definitely right about the box since he has carved and signed it himself
