Can anyone recommend a mid priced neroli based cologne?

It seems all the ones I've found are $100+ a bottle. I was lucky enough recently to win a PIF of a bottle of SCS Neroli aftershave milk. I really like the scent and I'd really like to add a neroli cologne to go with it.

Spring for a $70 tester of Creed Neroli Sauvage on ebay.
+1
I have one and use it regularly in my circulation. It's really great and I always get compliments on its smell.

Serge Lutens Fleurs d'oranger is another great perfume but it doesn't last long and is pricey.

I guess picking a lot of orange flowers to extract the essential oil makes it very expensive.

Hoyt's Cologne. Cheap and imbued with occult powers.

Absolutely!

Not much tenacity but as nice and as universally appreciated a scent as exists on the face of the earth as far as I can tell! I am not exasggerating!

Clearly lots of neroli with some bergamot, but I would truly classify this one as absolutely an exemplar of the classic neroli cologne.

And the occult powers are a plus!

I recall someone telling me that "petitgrain is the poor mans' neroli". I believe that both substances come from the same plant. While I cannot say what the differences between to two are (to any degree of accuracy), you may be able to do a single note search on the terms using the TPC search engine to get ideas. Also, you could check into purchasing some of the essential oil if you are hooked on the scent.

I've found that neroli is my favorite floral note. My favorite scents containing it are: Penhaligon's Castile and C&S Neroli. They're both excellent summertime scents!

Thanks for the tips. I managed to track down some Hoyt's cologne on Amazon so I bought a couple of bottles to try.

"I bought a couple of bottles to try" - I have to remember that one when I go shopping for brandy. If I were a mod, I'd make that your "sub name" - especially in voew of your signature line!

tsmba,

The wonderful Orange tree gives us many essential oils including "Orange" from the fruit peel, "Petitgrain" from the twigs and branches and "Neroli" from the orange flowers. There are many varieties of "Orange" essential oil from the different types of Orange trees like "Mandarin", "Bitter Orange" "Bergamot" and "Sweet Orange" to name a few... all of them, very enjoyable!
