What's new

Can anyone help me date this W&B Special?

I am assuming this is a later example of a W&B special but was curious if anyone could educate me a bit about it. Obviously the Abalone scales are not original, but I think they compliment the blade well. Thanks in advance for the education!

1891 and after was when England was stamped on the blades. before that it was simply sheffield

I'm not sure about the date range, but those are some awesome abalone scales.
I fell in love with the scales when I saw the classified add for this one and had to have it! I was a bit concerned about the blade's condition when I bought it, but when it arrived it was in far better shape than the pictures I saw led me to believe. The seller stated it was not shave ready, but a pasted strop and CrOX on balsa was all it needed to come back to life!

I'd guess 1900-1920.

I would agree on that one. The post-1891 to the early 20th century looked pretty much identical to the pre-1891 razors, just the tang stamp was updated due to the new laws there. After that is when the razors they made started looking like the modern ones do over all.
