Chips can be the result of a lot of things. Bad steel, for one. Another can be when deep scratches from the bevel set go all the way to the apex-- sometimes they can be obscured by your work on the next stone in the progression but then crop up on a finer stone in the form of chips. And, it can be that you have rogue grit on the finer stone. So it would be worth figuring out what the cause is here, and it may take a couple razors and a bit of time to really pin it down.Starting to notice micro chips in a couple spots.
