Camp breakfast

Took a road trip to Utah with my son last month to camp and mountain bike near Moab. I'm not much of a cook hand. I'm proud to say my son is more self-sufficient in that department.

It was too hot to enjoyably prepare any meal other than breakfast in camp. So we went down into Moab for lunch and dinner every day. Leftovers went into the next morning's breakfast.

We had eggs and fajitas, eggs and pizza, and eggs and Polish sausage (from the grocery store).

Thought I'd drop in here, say hi, and post some photos.

Trying to choose Polish sausage. Most stressful experience of the whole week.

Ummm...next time you go can I tag along?

Nothing like a good breakfast with coffee going in a percolator!

Unacceptably Lasering Chicken Giblets?
Nice!
Camping with your son? Priceless.
Dad always fed me Vienna sausages.
He told me they were beef tips and were what the rich people ate.

You warmed up pizza for breakfast? BLASPHEMY! Pizza for breakfast should always be served cold, unless it's one of those breakfast pizzas...

Hey Chief, a question for you. Do you like French press coffee? If so you might want to look for a GSI Lexan Java Press. I love mine for camping. Dump in the ground coffee and get the water to boiling in a pot. Mount the plunger and press down gently. Super quick compared to perking because you've got coffee almost as soon as you get the water to a boil. About the same volume as your percolator. Light-weight too.

Thanks for the suggestion. I honestly haven't had much experience with French press coffee. I'm sure I've had it, and don't remember disliking it.

I'll be sure to check it out.

I love coffee and I've been drinking it for half a century and then some. I've perked it; dripped it; even boiled it but nothing ever came close to the flavor of a dark French Roast made in a press. Discovered the press about a decade ago and haven't looked back. Got two for the house and the GSI for 'field' use. Full flavor that's never bitter and it's almost as quick as instant. Pour the boiling water on the grounds in the press, stir, mount and depress the plunger and boom you're done.

Thanks. I'll look for one. We have a new REI going in about 5 blocks from us this fall. Can't wait.
