Camoy Shave Brushes

I have a badger hair shave brush, which is marked "Camoy", but I can't find any web site for the manufacturer. Does anyone know who makes these now?

The story is that the brush that I bought for my son (I have one similar with which I am completely satisfied) fell apart a couple of months after purchase, and the retailer refuses to honour the statutory warranty, under Australian trade practices law. A complaint is pending on this, but I would like to contact the manufacturer, and let them know what has happened. Perhaps they would be able to lean on the retailer to do the right thing and support the product.

The brush shows clear evidence of faulty manufacture - a bubble in the adhesive is clearly visible, leading to the bristles coming apart from the handle.

Any help would be appreciated.

It might be Comoy? I am unsure if they have a website or not. You might want to check a box in a store. Reading this... A diffrent store

I believe that what you have a picture of is indeed faulty manufacturing. Either contact the seller, or get some marine epoxy (Ace hardware has good waterproof epoxy) and reglue the knot

If the badger hair are not damaged I would try to get rid of the glue at the bottom of the handle and use some epoxy to glue the knot back in the handle. I agree that it should not happen but I guess you got a lemon in the batch.

Saying that, I wouldn't know how Comoy are as I never used one. I wouldn't know if this is a common problem or not.

Definitely a manufacture fault.

I'm not sure about who distributes them though so couldn't help you there.

BUT I have a barely used one here that I'd gladly sent to you for free if you could cover postage (I'm in Sydney). It is just gathering dust and it would be good to see it put to good use especially considering the one you have has fallen apart :)

Hokay

I'm assuming this is from somewhere like BigW. I purchased some Col Conks from BigW and on the label was the web address: www.bpminnovations.com.au.

That lead me to Baden P. Morris Pty Ltd and it appears they distribute Col Conk, Dovo, Comoy , Merkur and various others in Australia..

May be worth giving them a call if you want to follow up further....

Doesn't bode well, I saw the $15 badger brush in BigW and was thinking about purchasing one just to compare against my Boar.... Don't think I'll worry about it now ( though I do realise this could happen even with the most expensive brands ) !

how odd - i just posted a comoy brush.

I used it a fair bit, and never had any troubles like that. the trade practices act protects you - its not fit for its intended purpose. Just quote that line at the manager and they'll refund you quicksmart.

guys, which waterproof epoxy do you use for brush related stuff? Also, where do I get it from?

I noticed Selley's have heaps of 2 part epoxy but when I emailed them, they said it doesn't like a lot of exposure to water and that they wont recommend it for shaving brush purposes.
