Calling GreyBeard, help needed with blade info

Hi folks,
i really hope GreyBeard spots this one. Got an old rusty blade I picked up an antique store a while ago. It says prince royal on the tang, preceded by 571 or S71. Nothing on the other side.

Sorry Nick, I can't help you in this case.
I have seen three different Prince Royal razors, all different, none with manufacturer's information. The only registered Prince Royal trademark I've found is from Tuckmantel & Martin. They seem to always have "Tuckmar" or their logo on the shank, though.

Perhaps when Peter's needed we should just use this better known tool rather than posting on the board? That way, even if he's away from his computer, he'll know someone's in trouble and needs him:

I tried a little research at work and came up with nothing, I may try some more. Everything comes up as reynold's royal blades or prince arthur. Tough call man. I am going to go out on a limb and say it's a sheffield blade.

Then I shall call it "Mystery Razor". Whoahaoha (doctor evil type laugh!).

If GreyBeard doesn't know much about then it could be quite rare ...

Seriously though, thanks for getting involved Peter. Greatly appreciated!
