Okay, I think I already did something about this amazing fragrance, but I wore it again today and quite honestly I am unbelievably blown away. First of all, I found out it's like ten bucks for this huge four ounce bottle. TEN BUCKS. For ten bucks I got a half an ounce of Southern Blend. Yes, that stuff is the bomb to me, but seriously now.
At Wal-Mart I sprayed some Drakkar Noir and it smells exactly the same but for one little detail: Drakkar is bitter to my nose. There is this lingering bitterness that to me makes me feel as if there is something missing within the scent. Caesar's Man takes all the good of Drakkar and filled in those spaces I felt were not filled. The first time I wore it I thought it was super sport; it was one of my only fragrances other than Brut and the other classic aftershaves (and Southern Blend). But then I got all of these other fragrances and now I'm realizing how much of a gem this is. This is not sporty like I thought, but it's getting there. It's a perfected scent in my mind. They tried adding to this and then that's when sporty was invented. This starts of with a lot of fruityness to me. I love it. I would say lime or something, but I'm not exactly sure. Supposedly there is some rosemary but I have NO idea what that smells like. Unlike the sporty fragrances which I guess tend to be very linear, if you really smell this one you can pick out the notes. The one note I really recognize is sandalwood. In the beginning it adds this bottom end and warmth, like a bass in music. Without that it would be just a bright mess. I hate calling this sporty because it isn't, but this is like what sporty colognes try to mimic, so that's how I get that reference.
This lasts forever. I mean, for the first few hours I bet anyone could smell this. I did two sprays on my chest and on on my back near my neck. Within a few minutes it dries down enough so that it's not super obnoxious, but this is a scent where you cannot spray it fifty times with the hopes of smelling awesome without a shower. Don't do it! I wore it for around eight hours before I showered, and it was still actually going very strong. By that time, though it lost all of the fruit and what I assume are incense notes for full on sandalwood. It smells just like the Proraso sandalwood cream. Full on just like it to my nose. I don't like that scent too much, but I don't hate it. Here's the thing, though...it works beautifully in this scent. It gives the fragrance some oomph but then it becomes the only note by the full-on dry down, and by then it's a nice subtle scent that you welcome.
This may be a super el-cheapo fragrance, but I think it's unbelievably awesome. I have been trying to make categories on my fragrances, such as when they would best be worn (dates, casual, etc.). This is a more formal scent that is edge-y to me. Not a black tie dinner affair, but a date at a nice restaurant, or a casino, or a jazz club. This is when you want a great scent. In my eyes Sex Appeal is a more casual scent meant for general wear and dates. I will definitely wear Caesar's Man casually, but not in t-shirt and cords. My casual is polo and khakis (although my day-to-day is usually shirt and tie). I would say my full-on formal fragrances would have to be Mr. Blass or Tuscany (with the preference going to Mr. Blass). Stuff like Southern Blend and Ferrari Uomo are the ones that are just oozing pure manliness, and they gotta just be worn whenever. I will say Mr. Blass has some of that going on, but has a general floral feel that is just perfectly formal, with a touch of leather that gives it spice (but not really any scent of leather...just that tiny bit of spice it tends to have).
So, go get a bottle. Seriously. Do it. Now. Women will want you (I think).
