Okay so I'm about to start my second set of scales, I had a play around with some of the binned attempts on my 1st rescaling, trying inlaying and CA finish.
The problem I have is when I fit the scales when they bend into shape (aka tapered wedge not flat), I can here the ca crack and end up with a couple of very small crack lines in the finish. I have a few ideas to get around it, have any of you tried these or got any other ways around it?
1. Am I doing the CA coating way to thick so should I sand it down a lot more which would prevent cracking?
2. Only CA coat the inside edges and pinning areas, then fit and rivit the scales, after that ca finish the rest (as in only ca coat the areas I can't sand down after fitting the scales, then finish the rest after). The problem is will this leave some visible join marks where the coat meet or can it just be sanded down without noticing?
3. Only do flat wedges with CA and wood
