C.V Heljestrand MK#32 vs. full beard (beard lost)

Very cool video! That blade really demolished your beard. I could never go without shaving that long.

So can you tell us a little more about the honing? I caught the bit about finishing on .1 CBN

It's member "mvh" that did the honing.
I have given him a few friendly pointers along his way to becoming a full-fledged hone-junkie.
Not that he needed much assistance, since he all ready was an "I sharpen things 8 hours a day" type of guy, but now when he finally felt that he was "ready"
he wanted to send me a razor to test one of his edges out.
And I happened to have a full beard to test it on

It's honed on Shapton Pro's up to 30K & then further refined on Ken Schwartz's compounds (on balsa I believe) up to 0.1µ CBN.

As you can see in the video, he has without doubt properly learned how to hone :yesnod:

Undoubtably. Although after tackling that beard I imagine its going to need a touch up

Thanks for sharing. For some reason I found it quite entertaining. I think it was part "love of the CVHs" coupled with "interest in seeing full beard removed." There's a couple points that seem strange, like the one where a chunk of beard just falls into the sink. But its pretty incredible. No way you'd be able to do that with a DE in less than 1 hour. And a cart...forgettaboutit

It would be nice doing a side-by-side comparison, half your face with a good straight & half with a Fusion. Wonder if Gillette is up to that challenge

All the hair stuck together in the lather, so once cut it fell of in lumps, indeed it looked weird.

Very cool, fantastic video. That razor is junk, as B&B self appointed disposal team, send to me for proper disposal.

That must have felt good! I love hacking off three or four days of growth, the skin afterwards is particularly soft.

How on earth did a razor nut like you end up being able to stand growing a beard for that long?

Yes, it felt awesome!
I have worn a beard at a couple of times before in my life & I kinda wanted to see how it felt once again.
And after the initial scruffiness had settled I was quite pleased & when then people around me started telling me that I could need a shave my reaction was of course to keep the beard at all costs

But honestly I badly longed for a good straight shave & finally when I got Michiels razor I really couldn't resist the urge to shave my face.
Luckily I have shaved my head with a straight meanwhile, so I haven't been completely out of the game...

Love it!!!! Did the same thing with my beard after growing parts of it for almost 4 months!!! It was a great feeling. I did put the hair/lather into the trash instead of the sink so not to clog the sink. Interestingly enough I used a MK 31

I figured shaving your dome was getting you through...

I did a full beard with a cartridge razor several years ago... started by cutting off the bulk with an electric trimmer and then digging it out with the M3. No doubt, the straight is the way to do it. However, that straight is top-notch and the video is good. Your delight in how it was working was infectious.

There is another video of a full beard coming off with a Feather DX with a super-Pro. It came off in carpets, too. Kinda funky.

Love the signature. The Big Bang is the best show on the tube hands down.

Newer users should take note of the blade angle too.

Great example of a straight shave Honed!
