What's new

C.O. Bigelow at least some times...

I am a soap guy, but when my wife drug me into Bath & Body Works, I was killing the time while she shopped...there it was in a shinny box...I have to get it...and I tried it out this morning...it will go in my travel kit with the Travel Tech and my vintage Ever-Ready re-finish...Now I can't wait to take a trip.

I bought some Bigelow's, and if it weren't for the scent would use it more often than I do. It's good stuff to shave with...

I've been using C.O. Bigelow, wetshaving with a Mach3 for several years, now, and it has worked fine for me with that setup. Now that I'm just starting out DE shaving (1 week into it), I don't feel I have a level of expertise to be any kind of authority on anything yet, but it seems to still work with the new set up. I mean, the smell is nice, it lathers well (especially since I've upgraded from boar to badger), and feels nice, but it's not really a life-changing experience. I'm looking to experiment with new creams in the near future in search of that experience.

It is good stuff, but a large tube costs almost as much as a tub of TOBS, and the british stuff is much better in my opinion.

That being said, I used the COB stuff exclusively for about a year and it really is a quality item.

C.o is one of the best shaving creams out their(my thoughts)and for the cost...well come on!!! It's fantastic!!!

I like the feel and smell, and my wife really like the smell. I really prefer to face lather. Can I just put a dollop of it in the center of my damp brush, or do I have to bowl lather first?

Sorry for the thread hijack.

I tried it both ways with my badger brush...it took more cream to face lather...the mug required less...but its a big tube and the face lather method was a change of pace for me...

C.O. Bigelow is good and it can be had easily.

Now you mentioned your a face lather and travel kit. To me that screams Palmolive or Valobra Shave Stick. They are great for at home or in the travel kit.

I keep my CO Bigelow with a Tech (stored in an Altoids tin with foam cut to hold the 3 razor pieces) for travel.

However, I did add some of it to some melted VDH soap and some Brut for a nice custom soap.

COB is the best travel product in my opinion.

C.O. Bigelow = Proraso Green so yup, it's good Italian stuff. I use it constantly as it's the only good cream I can walk into a store and buy locally.

I just started using C.O. Bigelow about a week ago, and I really love the "cool" sensation I get when I do my cold water rinse.

I also bought it at Bath & Body works, and for what it's worth, the shiny box works for them.

Cheers!

I'be been COB user out of necessity, mainly. Since I live outside the realm of civilization, my options are A) nice stuff on the internet, B) drive an hour to civilization where there's BBW and buy some CO Bigelow or C) settle for whatever crap Wal-Mart or the drugstore offers. Everything's expensive for me in terms of money, time, or pain.

They have VDH Deluxe at WalMart, and it's not crap at all. It's one of my favorite shaving soaps. I actually prefer it to C.O. Bigelow. I have a tube of Bigelow that is gathering dust in my shave den.

If I have a late-night shave, I usually reach for the CO Bigelow. I don't apply any aftershave, just rinse and dry. I find the scent to be very relaxing. I feel like I just cleaned all the day's troubles off my face..

Well, wouldn't it be good if TOBS had a menthol in the lineup! Sometime a guy just has to have a faceful of menthol goodness!
