What's new

C & E

Greetings gents,

This is kind of a broad question, but I just wondered what you guys think of Crabtree & Evelyn products in general ?? I sure see them a lot in photos on this forum (Shave Of The Day) so they must be pretty popular. I've never tried any of their products but all three of their scents do sound intriguing.
How does she shave cream perform? How about the after shave balm?

Thanks!

- Dave

I have tried all 4 scents. They are all great and perform fantastic for me. Stop by a C&E store and request samples of all 4 scents and the 3 a/s balms.

Great, thank you. Do you find the after shave balms to be a good consistency? Not too greasy?

The C&E creams are quite good. I would say the lather and shave is of slightly poorer quality than Taylors, etc., but these are small differences.

The balm is very good as well. Medium weight, easily absorbed, and quite soothing.

Their sandalwood scent is among my favorite, all of their products are superb, and they have very interesting scents. The a/s balm is like a superior version of DR Harris a/s milk and works quite well, the shave cream is good, the shave soap is superb, the deodorants are superb, their colognes are great - overall a very good english firm!

Buy with confidence!

Dave, I agree with everyone. Do yourself a favor and try the almond shave cream. I would compare it favorably with the the 3 Ts.

While most of the creams are not my favorites, the almond would be the exception. Yesterday's SOTD provide some tremendous lather. In general, I prefer their soaps to the creams with almond being the exception. Their ASBs are on par with the best. They're all top-notch and like Joel said, are medium weights and absob quickly and work extremely well. The sandalwood EDT is one of my favorite scents! Love it!

Dave,

I'll echo the sentiments of the collective.

I really like the scents of the C&E creams, with Nomad being in my top 3 all-time favorites.

The shave creams all offer about the same lather consistency in my mind, with the main difference being in the scent.

The after shave balms are very nice as well. They absorb quick and leave a non-greasy feeling, which is real important to me; can't stand the greasy kid stuff

hey, do any of you guys own more than one C & E scent or cream (or EDT)? Or do all of you just have one out of their lineup? I took the plunge yesterday and bought Sienna - I got the EDT, shave cream tube, and A/S balm. At the time I bought it, the Sienna was my favorite of the three scents that they offer. Although, now, I'm really wanting the Sandalwood as it took a very close 2nd place. Their Sandalwood is very nice ... very earthy. I have little experience with "true" Sandalwoods and this one seems pretty close to what I'd think Sandalwood would smell like. It does seem to be pretty much just a single-note Sandalwood ... which, I guess, is great for the Sandalwood lover. That's kind of why I went with the Sienna - it just seemed a little more interesting at the time I was sampling everything in the store.

what do you guys think?

- Dave

I have a variety of stuff from C&E. I think the Sandalwood cream, ASB, and EdT are the best of the lot. I don't believe it is truly a single-note sandalwood, but the the scent is sublime. If you want to get a sense of what true sandalwood EO smells like on its own, try AOS Sandalwood cream or QED's Sandalwood soap. The real thing is quite dry and balsamic - a different beast from some of the other offerings out there.

Dave, you did good. Sienna is a great scent that lasts all day. I actually like it better than their sandalwood. For a really great sandalwood, give Floris' version a try.

Thanks Scott. That just shows my lack of experience with Sandalwoods. "Dry" and "earthy" was what came to mind when I sampled the C&E Sandalwood. I liked it because it's different. I don't think most people even really know what Sandalwood is ... or have even heard of it. It does offer a nice change though if you want something a little different.

I have the C & E Sandalwood Hard Soap and a nice little tube of Nomad Ron gave me. Plus if go in there and inquire about a product, they will make a sample up for you without asking. I usually buy something while I'm there anyway so I don't feel like a mooch.

My wife and I both use their Aloe Vera Lip Balm and I use their Sandalwood Hair and Body Wash (same Sandalwood scent as the rest of that line).

Plus we have a few C & E stores close by.

It's funny how different people perceive scents differently. Everyone seems to love Sienna, but on me.... :18: :18: :07:

True. True. Sienna just seemed the most interesting of the 3. Sandalwood was a close second but I went with my gut-feeling and chose Sienna. Nomad came in at #3 for me ... it just struck me as a little too "mainstream" and not very interesting. It definately wasn't what I was expecting. I just feel like I've smelled that scent in so many other colognes .... it was very pleasant and fresh, just too common.

I was at the C&E store and bought the Almond and Sienna scents, they are really nice. I did take a whiff of the Nomad and did not like it at all. The sandalwood was nice too, I'll probably pick that up next time I go there.

I have found all of the C&E products to be first class. Their Almond is my favorite, and I have it both in cream and soap. They also sell branded Edwin Jagger badger brushes, and I have their small Best Badger and travel brush (which is NOT a turnback).
