Am a beginning user of soap, and shaved with C&E sweet almond oil soap this morning with a puck I was gifted awhile ago. Very nice shave and my face feels wonderful! Regretably, SAO soap is no more, so I can't be getting more of that. However, C&E sandalwood soap is apparently available again. Was wondering if anyone has used both and could make a comparison. Given the scent will be different, does the sandalwood shave as well as the almond? Thanks, John

I am lucky enough to have 2 pucks of the Sweet Almond Oil. I only shaved 3 times with it and had 2 good shaves out of the 3. I would bet it has something to do with my lather. Its still good stuff and I dont know why they discontinued it.

Anyone? The SAO is a gone goose, but would like to know if the sandalwood soap shaves similarly. Or should I be looking at some other brand? Thanks!
Personally, the Sandalwood VS SAO is like day and night!
The SAO performance IMO is far superior to the Sandalwood. The scent is also awesome however the Sandalwood is also a very nice woody and spicy scent. If you are looking to try a new soap, might I recommend DR Harris [Arlington], CADE, Mitchell's Wool Fat [my favourite by far], Palmolive tallow based shave stick. Given the low cost of C&E Sandalwood, I would still recommend you buy just the refill puck and give it a go, it is by no means a bad soap.
These should get you off to a good start and then you can buy, sell, trade from there for other soaps...its a very fun journey!

I recently got the C&E Sandalwood. 3 shaves in and i love the stuff. im fairly new to the soaps, and have only tried AOS no scent, L'Occ CADE. After some practice, I have gotten very good at getting a great lather. As nav said, it is a night and day difference with C&E and SAO. With a gun to my head, I would have to choose C&E sandalwood, but it a tough call
I have not had the opportunity to try the SAO, but I use the C&E Sandalwood in my rotation. It gives a very solid shave and the smell is very good.

Thank you, gentlemen! The soaps I have at the moment are the aforementioned SAO and D.R. Harris lavender. My face feels better after using the SAO than after using the D.R. Harris - more moisturized maybe. Have been eyeing Trumper rose for when I run out of TOBS rose cream. And have heard good things about D.R. Harris almond. But I know that some C&E sandalwood soap still exists, so thought I would ask about it, given my good experience with the SAO. Still have a ways to go with the soaps and creams I already have, but enjoy dreaming of new delights!
In terms of skincare from a soap...Mitchell's Wool Fat is even better than SAO! I have both of these soaps and the Fat gets 90% use in my den! It takes care of the skin whilst providing a great slick lather so your shave will be great and the aftershave will be great

C&E makes my favorite soaps. I get great shaves with any of them and they smell fantastic. I have all the big name soaps like Harris, Tabac, Moos, Trumpers, Cade, MWF, etc etc and C&E is really the only brand of soap I would be hurt if they stopped making it.
The Sandlewood has an authentic scent. Very masculine and goes great with Old Spice aftershave. The shaves are top notch, never drying. Feels and smells great. Give C&E some love so they keep making it.

I agree. Just today i picked up 3 refills of the Sandalwood ( buy2 get one free
) I asked about the rumor of them stopping production of the shave soaps, she said that they just reformulating them, but in no way halting production, she said they sell A LOT of the stuff
