C&E Sandalwood Cream

Wifey and I are on a mini-vacation in Colorado, and before we left I let her pick whichever cream she liked best from my collection for me to bring along. She picked C&E Sandalwood, which has never been my favorite. After 2 shaves with it in 2 days, I think it's growing on me (and the scent certainly fits well in CO). Of course, it always helps when the wife is partial to it. :001_smile

Anybody ever pick their cream based on SWMBO's opinion of the scent?

I don't know...when I smelled C&E's sandlewood I thought it smelled terrible, and yet one of my favorites is TOBS sandlewood. Maybe there is something to that whole "buy what you like yourself" thing.

No, I know what you mean. C&E sandalwood is a dry, subtle scent, though the shave is wonderful. I also have TOBS sandalwood for the truly wonderful aroma!! Though both sahdalwoods, they smell nothing the same.

The C&E Sandalwood is the only Sandalwood I've tried. Recommendations for others (obviously TOBS has already been mentioned)?

Let me explain why I got TOBS sandalwood cream, if I may. Actually, I started off looking for an almond to perhaps replace the TOBS almond that I am running out of. With all the experimenting for a long-lasting (read through the shave) scent, I gave up on almonds. Then I said to myself that since I like T&H spanish leather cologne, TOBS sandalwood aftershave and D.R. Harris sandalwood aftershave so much, perhaps I should try the TOBS sandalwood cream. Aroma is the same, and the scent in the cream lasts through the shave. Plus it has the fine shaving characteristics of TOBS. And so I bought a tub. Again, the scent is not the same as the C&E; they are different versions of sandalwood. C&E is soft yet dry. TOBS is bold and spicy. If I had to pick the one that shaved best, I would say C&E by a small margin.

TOBS sandalwood certainly is a bolder and spicier scent. I got the shave stick from Colonial Drug a while ago, and the scent has grown on me. Supposedly Taylors adds Cedar, Lavender, Rosemary, Jasmine and Rose to their formula (not sure if they use essential oils or synthetic oils, however).

+1 on the post for AOS Sandalwood. They use only the sandalwood essential oil in their cream.

I always felt that C&E Sandalwood's performance wasn't that great - a cut below below the Three-T's. But I just love the smell. Its not a pure sandalwood scent, sort of a soft and creamy version. Its one of two items I have that are just ok performance wise, but in regular rotation because they smell so good. The other is Pecksniff's Oriental cream.

AoS Sandalwood is one of the only creams that is true sandalwood. TOBS, GFT, C&E, etc. are not real sandalwood. Heck, they do not even smell remotely close to it.
