C&E Nomad Soap

I'm thinking of picking up some Nomad soap because I really like the cream. Has anyone tried the soap and cream? How does this soap compare to the Nomad cream?

Well, I can say that I was able to compare the sandalwood and sienna between the cream and the soap, and the main diff for me was that the creams irritated my face, and I don't think the lather was as good.. so my vote is for the soap. The scents were pretty much identical.

Nomad was my second soap (after Cade) and I still love it....I also like the Sienna but I find Nomad more gentle with my skin.

I've never tried the cream, but I can give the soap a big thumbs up

I purchased both the soap and the cream expressly for the purpose of researching which is better, but I have to say that so far, I haven't noticed a particular difference between one and the other.

The aroma of the cream is a bit stronger (as is to be expected), but the quality of the lather that I got was not significantly different.

Other than that, the only bit of information that I could possibly pass along is that compared to the tallow-based soaps that I'm used to using (Tabac, MWF) the lather from the Nomad soap seemed a little... wimpy? Not by much, but just enough to be noticeable.

I would say just buy whatever you feel most comfortable with (soap or cream) and go with that. Of course, you could always purchase both, and either confirm or deny my results. Let me know if you do:thumbup:

Hope this helps,

Just wanted to say that I don't have Nomad shave soap, but I do have the bar soap and its quite nice. C&E creams are, in general, but not as good as TOOBS, T&E and others. But I am still quite a fan of their stuff, Sandlewood, Nomad, and Sienna are all great products. I like Nomad, but my better half LOVES it, as do a few other women I know - so who am I to argue?

One thing that is outstanding from C&E is the aftershave balms.

I have the soap, cream and the ASB. I loved the cream the fist time I used it. I thought it lathered up nice and smelled great IMHO. After that I bought the soap to try it out. I had a hard time at first building a good lather but I think it was because it was my first time using a soap. After I got the soap/water ratio down it lathered up wonderfully. The ASB is also one of my favorites. I think its up to you if you prefer soap or cream. Or if your like most of us we like trying everything

I have the soap. I like the scent, but I find it more difficult to get a good lather than other soaps I have tried. It also dries out quickly. It will dry out on your face and thus make your skin feel dry as well. It also dries out on your brush between passes. I can't make enough lather for three passes without re-lathering before the third pass. Maybe its just me, but I probably wouldn't buy it again.

I was having the same problem with it drying my face. It didn't happen with the cream at first. Then when I started using some other creams and came back to it I had this problem. The same happend with the soap at first and it even irritated my skin. I stopped using both and considered never buying them again even though I loved the smell. After taking a break from both and then giving them one more try I had great relults. I increased the water a bit in the cream and in the soap. Maybe that was it I'm not sure exactly what it was.:confused1

C&E Nomad was my first SC. The scent blew me away and it was a product that opened my eyes to shave creams. Having said that, I like the soap just a wee bit better. The scent is not as strong as in the cream, but more subtle so women tend to get closer to figure out what smells so good. I normally layer it with other products in the Nomad line.

Since purchasing the SS, I don't recall having used the cream @ all. Either way, you cannot go wrong w/ C&E Nomad.

I have it in a wooden bowl. I prefer creams but this soap has been good. I prefer the moisture of the creams but this one gets a pretty good lather fairly quickly with a decent brush. It does offer a good shave IMO.

Thanks for the replies. I have the cream and used it a few days ago and have some redness and a bit of acne. If I'm getting this with the cream do you think the soap will irritate my skin as well?

IMO, probably. I think it is the drying tendency that this soap has. Apparently you have to use more water with this soap than with others. After reading some of the posts above, I tried using it again with extra water and it did perform better.
