After shaving with a Merkur Heavy Duty for about a year, I decided to move to a more aggressive open comb razor and bought a new model Muhle M41 last month.
Now this is an aggressive razor. First loaded with a Bic it seemed that the first 3 or 4 times out it cut me everytime the blade touched my face. I almost gave up on it.
After two weeks now it is giving me the best shaves of my life (60ish years of it). This morning started with a great cup of brewed coffee, hot shower and the M41. I used a Astra Superior Platinum and a wonderful hot lather of Proraso Green. The shave was absolutely smooth, no blood or irritation and truly BBS! A cold water rinse followed by a healthy splash of Osage Rub started my day off real right.
In my limited experience, this razor is everything I can think of in a safety razor. My favorite.
