Buying TOBS and a bowl. Need help!

Hi all, I've made the sad realization that I don't particularly like Proraso Sandalwood as good as it smells. I also like a cream or two in my sea of soaps so I've decided to purchase a tub of TOBS. After much Googling, it seems that most people like the Mr.Taylor and St. James the most. Notable performers seem to be Grapefruit (I don't know what a grapefruit is) and Avocado (guacamole on my face).

I do have a somewhat sensitive face, but it can handle well against the lovely smell of Tabac. I'm not too worried about the scent burning my face...

As for the bowl/mug, I'm stumped. I want a scuttle, but I don't have the patience to wait a few weeks to get it. I might be out of school when I get it! Any ideas? I know Old Spice is in there, but I want to bowl lather. I don't know if that can be done in a mug...

I like the bowl I got at World Market. Do you have one of those? If you don't know what a grapefruit is, I'm not sure where you're from. :001_tt2:

With sensitive skin, and a choice of Taylor of Old Bond Street, you truly cannot go wrong with their Jermyn Street cream. It performs exceptionally well and is one of their most popular fragrances. The aftershave is incredible as well.

I can share a couple thoughts:

The TOBS Avocado is made with avocado oil, and does not smell like avocado but rather a light floral scent. I haven't tried the new grapefruit scent, so can't comment, but surely you know what a grapefruit is? St. James is outstanding. Mr. Taylors is liked by many, but honestly not one of my favorites. My opinion would be St. James FTW.

Jermyn street is the most popular scent. I like avocado, but it smells like green tea to me, which I really don't care for.not really a fan of the Mr Taylor scent. I get a hunt of cotton candy in it.

My favorite TOBS scents are (in no order): Eton College and Grapefruit.
You absolutely can't go wrong with either (unless you don't like grapefruit)

TOBS makes fantastic products. Love the Mr T, and got a bowl of Grapefruit. Tabac is very good, and I would also recommend I Coloniali by Atkinson. So many great creams out there. I have a scuttle and say its both worth the $ and the wait.

I have Jermyn St in both the cream and soap form. I got the soap in the black wooden bowl and the cream in the tub, not the tube. They both perform quite well. The AS is kind of sticky/greasy feeling but I fix that by mixing it with witch hazel in my hands before applying to my face. I haven't used them since August due to Speiktember and this month I've been focusing on using up my Ogallala Bay Rum soap samples. They provide quite a few shaves per sample puck. I'm getting at least 10.

Now, for the TOBS Avocado, I had a sample and while I loved the performance, I couldn't get past the floral scent. Reminded me of staying at my grandmother's house in the late 70's. A scent that you can't forget and due to the memory, I can't get past.

OKAY, so I bought a Grapefruit today for breakfast tomorrow. It has a nice aroma, but reminds me of Airborne. You know, that gross fizzy stuff...? I'll keep Grapefruit in the back of my mind.

You guys aren't helping. I ask for suggestions on 2 different kinds and I get 345923845 different other kinds to choose. Curse you TOBS for making so many creams!!!!!!

I'm kidding, of course. I welcome everyone's input here :D

As for the bowl, I want one with ridges on the inside. I have found through washing dishes with a brush that the more agitated the brush gets, the quicker it lathers. I found a cheap mortar and pestle bowl on amazon. It has some nice ridges on the inside, and it's light too....http://www.amazon.com/Helen-Kitchen...1_12?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1382572200&sr=1-12 but I am open to more suggestions.

+1 Just added this to my other 2 Tobs and its very very good. Both performance and scent great.

I think I am going to get the St. Jermyn. It looks and sounds...interesting.

As for the bowl/mug. The OS mugs on eBay are relatively cheap. However, I anticipated on getting a bowl with a ribbed inside in order to agitate the brush to get a quicker lather.
