Buying blades on eBay

The discussion of counterfeit blades has come up a few times and I believe it is a general consensus is that it would not be a profitable endeavor.

Uh, vertical derbys are not counterfeit. I ordered some derbys that had a picture of the horizontal packaging but ended up getting verticals. They shave just fine, and I've never noticed any differences between them and the horizontals I had in my sample pack, fwiw. My suggestion is that you should be okay buying derbys over the 'bay, but if you're concerned about getting horizontals, write the seller a message and ask. I've had great success buying vintage blades on the 'bay, btw.
Hope it helps,

There was a post here where another vendor went to The Shaving Factory's (aka derby-exclusive on ebay) warehouse and spoke to him about the changes.

Email, ask questions before you buy, if you want the horizontals I'm sure there are people out there that still have them up for sale, including The Shaving Factory (see in the linked thread).

I've never shaved with the horizontals but the Verticals are one of my favorite blades, however as with all things, YMMV.

In addition to DE Shaver's post:

I just received 300 blades from store34, Horizontals. I strongly recommend emailing to make sure so you get what you want.
