Buying Artwork

I fancy getting a decent scenic picture for my living room.

I have never bought any art before and just wondered where you lot purchase from, online or in a store? Also am I better off looking for prints to keep costs down.

Any links/info. would be helpful, thanks.

As an Auctioneer and Estate Appraiser I would encourage you to search auctionzip.com and purchase suitable art via a LIVE Auction event. You wont be sorry

Do you have an art college where you are? Art colleges usually have a mid year, and an end of year exhibition of the students work. Often the work is for sale. Just get there early and put a red dot on you favourite pieces. It will be original, and you will be helping some poor art student to pay for his beer and pot.

You never know, they may also become famous one day.

Unless he is one of us and trying to get some cool vintage razors and saving up for a nice brush

If you're in London you should have no problem finding wonderful original artworks at any number of galleries, studios, and, as Hunter suggested above, from student artists. There is much truth to what he said about buying an original piece painted by a student artist now for a very reasonable amount which could one day turn into a very lucrative investment.

At any rate, always buy what you like, not for it's value...either way you'll have something you can enjoy.
