Burt's Bees

Do you guys use any of their products? I ask because I've started to see them everywhere around town and they look pretty good. Not the cheapest, but all natural and hey, no animal testing too! So, whats the quality of these products? Worth a buy?

I have used a variety of their products including: lip balm, carrot body lotion, shampoo and conditioner, and face lotion. I have generally been very satisfied with all their products especially since I have attempted to remove surfactants from my cleansing repertoire. I agree that the products are a bit pricey, which I believe is mitigated by the ease of going to your local Target or Walmart to pick up a relatively high quality product instead of waiting for shipment.

I will say, the shampoo and conditioner did not particularly meet expectations but it might work for others.

I have and occasionally use the after shave balm. It does it good job. The smell, however, is like getting punched in the face with a bee's nest. Definitely different. Not something I could use every day. Or every week for that matter. But, it is in my rotation, and is used once or twice a month.

I currently use the Aftershave lotion as my main AS. I really like the smell and I don't find it too strong, but a little goes a long way as a moisturizer. Its not to oily and has been much better for my skin than anything else I've tried.
If you watch for coupons or sales, you can get some good deals on Burts Bees thru drigstore.com

My wife knows somebody who works for them, so we get a lot of their stuff going through the house.

The Bay Rum Aftershave Balm is quite nice. I like the Peppermint and Rosemary body wash and bar, both great wake-up items, and the body wash de-funkifies a shaving brush very quickly.

The Bay Rum Shaving Soap is a black hole of bad, one of the signs that the end times are approaching. Using it is almost as pleasurable as chewing on tinfoil with a mouth full of fillings, and most of the things I regret in my life have some connection with that shaving soap.

It has a nice scent, however

I used the shaving soap for a time and found it to be lacking in every quality a shaving soap should posses with the possible exception of the scent. I think that I developed carpel tunnel problems trying to develop any sort of lather. I still have several pucks and keep them in drawers as sort of a sachet...the best use I have found for them to date since they are not heavy enough for a doorstop.

The other products that I have tried such as their lip balm are fine, but I have to agree with topgumby that when I see the name I think of the shaving soap.

I got a shock down my spine from your analogy (tin foil on fillings) but will have to agree whole-heartedly with your feelings on their soaps and creams. It's nice that you can buy the stuff at target. I used the baby shampoo on my son, I like the lotions and lip balm, the adult shampoo is so-so, but I'm not a fan of the shave cream.

I have the BB shave cream and asb in my rotation ... I like to take it with me when I'm travelling, and I sometimes reach for it when I'm in a hurry at home.

Yes, I know it doesn't lather ... its not supposed to. But it gives me a great shave every time, and that's what counts. It smells good, too.

I really like the BB bar soap ... I use it every day, whether I shave or not. I alternate this with Out of Africa's Black Soap with Shea Butter, and they both perform quite well for me.

Rounding out my product list is BB Hair Gel ... this does a good job of holding things in place, it smells good, its not sticky or greasy, but its not the best hair gel I've ever used. I use it perhaps every other month, the only time I put any kind of product in my hair is when I'm overdue for a haircut.

I'd like to round out my BB suite with their other products, but I'm waiting to catch a sale on them.

As for their Bay Rum shaving soap ... I've never seen it for sale anywhere, either in retail or online. If anyone has a puck they'd like to get rid of, shoot me a PM and we can talk about it.

I couldn't live without their lip balm. I also enjoy their Bay Rum cologne and bar soaps. The "For Men" line is scented very nicely, a good balance of citrus and wood notes. Not everything they make is A+, such as the notorious shave soap, but overall they make some fine products.
