Burma shave

Hi,
I picked up a Burma Shave mug and soap on the bay the other day. The soap is a glycerine soap with an S impressed into it. It came with a booklet that says Burma Shave, Personna, American Saftey Razor Co. the mug and soap are New/unused but I can't find it anywhere on the net. I havn't shaved with it yet, but I made a lather and it feels slick.
Has anyone tried this product/ How was it? $burma 006.jpg

I will try a shave with it in the morning before work and put up my thoughts on it. The test lather seems to be a solid Glycerin soap lather though. I can't find anything about this mug or the soap on personna's website though.:confused1

It's a new old stock/ discontinued product. Probably discontinued about four years ago. A decent amount of stock still exists though.

I wonder if someone switched out the puck of Burma Shave for something else: I had a puck of Burma Shave Shaving Soap, with the box and it was an opaque soap; not a clear glycerin soap like yours.

I would also attribute the S on your soap to "Surrey" a predecessor of Van Der Hagen, who made very similar soaps to the present day VDH.

Just a bit of history for you: The Burma Shave name existed for a long time: in the olden days, however, they never made shaving soap. They were one of the first people to put a latherless shaving cream on the market. So the Burma Shave Shaving Soap is not exactly in keeping with the traditions of the company. It debuted some time in the 1990's/ 2000's.

I have to agree, the only Burma Shave soap puck I know of was opaque and tallow-based.
