BST Is it allowed?

I periodically look at the BST but never see any Brown Leaf Items on there. Is it against Forum Rule to Buy Sell Trade tobacco related products? If it is why? Is it law or just the Forum rules? Any way just looking for conversation.

It's a B&B BST rule based on the law. You've probably heard of the ATF.

Yup.
Pipes, tampers, lighters, ashtrays, etc... they're all okay, but cigars and tobacco are not permitted.

Rule of thumb here. Hardware is ok for BST,software is not.

Back to my rule of thumb, software (a.k.a tobacco, cigars, snuff, etc...) is forbidden to sell or trade. Anything on the hardware side like pipes or lighters or humidors or tampers, etc. is fine for sale. Basically, if you have to get carded hard for it, you can't (or shouldn't) sell it here.

No PIF's, trades, sales, or buys here of any product containing or consisting of tobacco.
Hardware such as Humidors, Pipes, lighters etc - no problem.


We are looking into ways to meet the strict guidelines for doing so legally, but we are not there yet.
IF it ever happens, you guys will be the first to know.

One of the biggest problems with trading/selling tobacco through a forum is: how can you absolutely guarantee that the person you're sending it to is of legal age?

If you want a good laugh, look at some of the tobacco auctions on Ebay. They all stress that what you're bidding on is the "collectible packaging" only, and the fact that there is tobacco inside it is purely coincidental.

Same with home winemakers and home brewers. Can't legally sell homebrew, but if they know you, they'll sell you a "bottle that hasn't been washed out"

I like that this is one of the many things that separates us from EBay: no playing games

I've really not ventured to any of the smoking forums......... Does anyone know of one with a pipe tobacco trade forum/post? I've got a couple I want to try, and a couple I don't see myself using.

I suppose the age issue thing is likely shutting them all down.

There are dedicated pipe and cigar forums that do allow selling and trading amongst members, however I do not know of any that give this privileged to new members. The sites I am a member of have a probationary period the same way B&B does to use or have access to the BST.

Keep in mind that state laws ban the sale or trading of tobacco for persons under a certain age. B&B would have no way of checking to see the age of the recipient and could expose itself to legal liability.
