Brut

OK everyone. I have to know...

Do many of you use Brut cologne/splash-on/etc.? I know, I know, it is generally considered to be associated with the older generations. However, I think the stuff (when used in moderation) smells awesome! I can, however, see how people who lived through the peak years of Brut, when many folks bathed in it, might look down on it. Brut cologne is so strong that it would make your eyes water if somebody wore too much. In that regard, it reminds me of Drakar Noir, which was very popular in my high school. But some guys bathed in Drakar, and even applied it multiple times during the day. Drakar makes me sick now. But, if Brut is applied in moderation, I think it leaves a nice, long-lasting scent. Further, there must be something to this stuff considering it is nearing 50 years old!

Am I crazy for liking this stuff? :001_huh:

My older brother has used it since he was a teenager, and still does at 37. Like most other things, it smells great when used in moderation.

I'm 50 but only started using brut a year ago. I like it, and SWMBO loves it. I can't seem to find any more of the spray cologne, though.

I use the after shave a couple of times a week.

I have mixed thoughts on Brut. I have a bottle of the Ivy Club Brut knockoff, and I enjoy the smell. The issue is, that Brut has a pretty negative connotation for me, as I used to cover myself with it in excess as a teenager.:lol:

I bought a bottle of Brut aftershave the week before last and the scent me back to my seventies childhood, when my older brothers slathered themselves in Brut - the nostalgia was like condensed essence of space-hoppers :biggrin1:

I've been wearing it a couple of days a week, quite gingerly at first as I didn't want to be pointed at. So far there's been no lynch mob, but it's turned a few heads on the bus into work.

I'm not sure I'm ready to relive my teenage years and immerse myself in Blue Stratos just yet.

I'm wearing Brut today (the AS and the EdC). I love it.

Strangely, I really don't like Clubman too much anymore even though it and Brut are quite similar.

Not the cologne or aftershave. But I do have the aftershave balm, and the deodorant. In fact, I'm wearing both today. I got them for two reasons - one, I've heard good things about the ASB, and two, I used to wear the deodorant in high school and there's a touch of nostalgia there.

That said, I don't wear it very often, as the scent can be a bit strong, and the deodorant has alcohol and I'm not a huge fan of the tingle under the pits.

Thanks everyone! I don't feel so out of the box anymore! By the way, does anybody know where a person can by the cool European bottles stateside?:thumbup1:

That's a phrase to give you pause!

Brut's still a little bit TOO 70's/80's for me....Henry and Kenny put me off a bit. And it's too reminiscent of school discos. I've recently started using OS so baby steps for now :biggrin1:

But I'm definitely noticing the "old school" products a lot more recently. Big glass bottle of Brut sitting next to the Old Spice in Morrison's today....was going to open it to see if they still have the "medallion" hanging round the neck!
