Brushless Shootout

Had a week of going brushless. All shaves were with a fat handled Tech and a virgin Rapira stainless blade on the face ,and a 3 blade BIC landfill razor on the scalp.....Same 2 wash-2 rinse prep for each shave......Granado Pharmacias Sabonete ,3P and PREP Skin Protective cream were used......The 3P and Prep were very close in all regards, both provide great lube, easy shaves ,great scent and leave the skin nourished and moist ,no aftershave necessary. They both are expensive to use, considering the price shipped to the U.S. ,and they both are thick enough to clog the razor ,although running the razor under hot water whisks away the hair laden cream with no problems....Granado ($1.25 usd in Brazil and $8.50 usd on Amazon) comes out #1....A solid heavy bar of soap with an after dinner buttermint scent. After the usual prep ,you simply rub the bar all over your face ,then work up a lather by rubbing the bar in your hands ,massaging that lather into your facial hair for 2 minutes, then shave away.Granado makes a very thin ,disappearing lather, but it leaves behind a shaving field even better than the 2 petroleum based creams from Italy and San Marino Republic. The shaves are fantastic !...The blade rinses easily and ATG strokes are even better than the Prep and 3P ATG strokes.Granado also leaves the face slick ,nourished and non greasy, again no aftershave or balm needed....If I had included Stephans Smooth Shave cream in this test it would be ranked #2 ,3P and Prep tied for 3rd place...By the way ,the Granado soap will provide many more shaves than the others do ,so at $8.50 shipped ,it's still a good bargain....

excellent write up.

If you are in the mood to try a brushless gel, I highly recommend Acca Kappa's new line of products...Transparent Shaving Gel.
